A former professional boxer whose career spanned twenty-years (1986-2006), Sheffield's Johnny Nelson is an iconic figure amongst British pugilists. Another member of the stable which formed the golden age of the Ingle gym, Nelson saw the high highs and subterranean lows of a boxing career. Ending his amateur days with an overall losing record, Nelson would break a three-fight losing streak at the dawn of his pro career to become an invincible champion. Injury would sadly bring about a premature end to Nelson's fighting career, curtailing hopes of an IBF/WBO unification fight with Enzo Maccarinelli, leading to a retirement in the later stages of 2006. Since then, Johnny Nelson has become a household name via punditry and TV Work. As a generation - if not more - know the Sheffield man for his work on the small screen, often facing up Sky's boxing coverage, he's as fierce and dominant a presenter as he was a Champion.
