Best known for his 2014 Surrealist short film 'Unreal Exile' (2014), David Nwajei is a producer, writer and director who has worked in the film industry for over 15 years. He was born in 1975 in Benin City, Nigeria, and has since, moved on to live in Europe. David has gone from acting alongside famous actors such as Hakeem Kae-Kazim in 'God is African' (2003) as Apex, to writing and directing his own films. On August 2015, David completed his second film 'Absolute Addictions' (2015). He has also worked as an assistant director (second unit), on 'All is by My Side' (2013), under a major writer and director, John Ridley, a renowned Oscar winner, '12 Years a Slave' (2013). David is also known for 'What If' (2013), 'Ripper Street' (2013), 'Quirke' (2014 TV Mini-Series) and 'Love, Rosie' (2014). At the age of fifteen, David began renting the Sony DXC-325 Professional Video Camera, experimenting and making mini documentaries for pious organisations, and home videos with his friends in Nigeria. He went to University of Benin, Nigeria, but dropped out to pursue his entertainment career. He made his acting debut on 'The Mean Girls' (1998) in Lagos, Nigeria, starring as Ben, alongside famous Nigerian actors such as Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) and Liz Benson. The film was subsequently followed by 'Sunset in Africa' (1998), where he once again, starred alongside Liz Benson as the Queen's Henchman. Having studied film at one of Ireland's largest independent third level institutions (DBS), David wrote his first surrealist short 'Unreal Exile' which was inspired by the works of veteran filmmakers such as David Lynch, Salvador Dalí and Luis Buñuel. It was the masterpiece that became the first to earn him his title as a writer, producer and director after the film premiered at the Irish Cork film festival in 2014. And in the very same year, 'Unreal Exile' had its first private screening at Dublin's Filmbase, in Ireland.
