Josie Marie Smith is an American actress. Born in a small town in North Carolina, Josie grew up in the theatre performing in outdoor dramas, community theatre, and college productions. At 6 years old she could be heard belting over the rest of the cast in the out door drama, First For Freedom, and her parents were told by their church's minister of music that they had a singer in the family. After college her continuing interest in acting led her to be accepted into the Meisner Training Program at the William Esper Studio in New York City. In 2011 she won the Best Actress award in the NYC 24 Hour film race for her work on, The Day. She lived and worked in NYC as a professional actor and continued to sing performing as a back up vocalist in numerous bands and alongside several singer songwriters, including Laura MacLean. She has a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and continues to work professionally as an actor, singer, and teacher. She enjoys spending time hiking, woodworking, and hanging out with her fiancé and two lazy cats.
