Edith Sumaquial has been involved with the arts since she was four years old. Starting out as a company dancer for the Bolshoi West Ballet Company and performing in operas at the University of Pacific, she later turned her focus on acting and screenwriting. Her career choice led her to attend the University of Oregon and received her degree in Journalism and a Certificate in Film Studies. Soon after graduation, Edith moved to Manhattan to continue her training as an actress and screenwriter. Since then she has appeared on soap operas, numerous print ads and musical theater projects, such as West Side Story Live Event and several Asian Operas. Her life on the east coast had inspired the conception of a few of her scripts. Haunting Reflection, a psychological thriller about a girl, going through her first schizophrenic episode, and her roommate, who watches helplessly as she experiences these changes, brought her immediate recognition to the writers community in NYC. Then in 2006, Edith decided to move to the west coast to be closer to more screenwriting and acting opportunities. Upon arriving in LA, she entered into the world of improv to help her creative flow and sharpen her acting skills. She was instantly scouted by Laughing Stock Development, an improv group based in Long Beach. And after numerous performances in Hollywood, she was discovered by Skov Prov Improv Group and Two Drink Minimum. She has performed at the The Comedy Store, L.A. Connection and many other Hollywood comedy clubs. Since then she has written a multitude of scripts mostly in the romantic comedy genre. Edith ventured into TV writing and help create and write Pop Up Hollywood, a television series about 6 friends struggling to make their dreams come true in the ever competitive Hollywood scene. Her latest screenplays are, The Lighter, which tells the story of eight different people who get a hold of the same lighter and how the lighter is their common link, and Pushing 30, a script about a young woman dealing with turning the big 3-0 and personal discoveries she makes along the way.
