John Royston Brockington was born on September 28, 1940. He fell in love with the light radiating from the projectionists porthole in his local cinema at a very early age - it is a love he still keeps close to his heart today. He worked his way up from Rewind boy to Senior Projectionist and Cinema Manager (Part Time whilst he worked as Full time Projectionist as well) through many Cinemas in Birmingham. He was made redundant in 2008 from Midlands Arts Centre due to their refurbishment - as were the majority of staff. In 2009 already having been diagnosed for 2 years with COPD, he was told he had Lung Cancer. He underwent Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy (Pallative). After a prognosis of 6-9 months he continued in ever good spirits amidst ailing health till he passed away in Feb 2013.
