Allen James Lynch is a former United States Army soldier and a recipient of the Medal of Honor, the United States military's highest decoration, for his actions in the Vietnam War during a firefight that occurred on December 15, 1967. During the firefight, he rescued three wounded soldiers and stayed behind to protect them when the rest of the company withdrew. He defended the wounded soldiers from enemy attack until they could be evacuated. He later worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Illinois Attorney General's Veterans Rights Bureau.
