Born in Miami Beach, Florida, raised in East Tennessee, David Mendez at the age of 17 joined the US Army Infantry and was stationed on the East/West German border in 1986-88. He became a civilian and continued to live in Germany until 1993. Returning to the US to attend Film school at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida 1996-98. Moving to San Francisco in 2000, he continued studies in documentary filmmaking, while working as a nightclub manager. In 2004 he decided to re-enlist into California National Guard as a Light Infantryman. After a stint on the Korean DMZ, he was deployed active duty to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom serving with CJSOTF-A and later in Kabul under 82nd Airborne as Protective Security for the Deputy Commander of US forces in ISAF. After the 18 month deployment, he returned to the continental US with honors. Working in Los Angeles since 2007, he taught special makeup FX in Hollywood from 2016-19. Now David resides in Atlanta working in the Film & TV industry experiencing every level of production as crew and a performer. A member of the Television Academy of Arts & Sciences, The American Legion, SAG-AFTRA member since 2008 and Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT-B).
