Andy was born in Topeka, KS on November 3, 1968. He moved to Japan in 1970 with his parents. He attended kindergarten and first grade at a local public Japanese school in Tokushima on Shikoku island. Later, his family moved to Tokyo when Andy was 10 years old where he attended the American School in Japan until his graduation in 1986. While in High School, he would often work as a "gaijin extra" in miscellaneous productions on a variety of TV shows and films. Andy studied anthropology at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK. Upon graduation, he returned to Japan, married a Japanese national and had two children. He continued his acting career part time while he worked for various Japanese corporations. He wrote for Softbank Magazine where he had a recurring article called "An American in Tokyo". When Softbank eliminated the magazine, he worked for Canon, inc, while keeping a toe in acting whenever possible. Andy passed away in April, 2017 after developing blood clots whilst in Hospital after a fall resulted in a broken hip and thigh.
