Mario Màcan was born June 26, 1990, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. His family moved to London, UK to escape the Bosnian civil war In 1992. However, he has worked to retain his ethnic roots and is fluent in Bosnian, Serbian and Croatian as well as English. Growing up, Mario was attracted to the entire creative process of acting. He studied film scripts in detail, so he could develop his own ideas about character portrayal and development before watching the actual films. His first lead role came in 2001 when he was cast as Oliver in the iconic stage production 'Oliver Twist' Made his Television debut in 2008 for Casualty - BBC, playing Liam Mizdrak alongside Frank Gallagher's wife Brana Bajic. Casting Director Derek Barnes was impressed at his authenticity portraying the east European role. He later went on to grab the attention of Casting Director Rachelle Warren, who cast him as EastEnd lad, Jason, in two episodes of the Award Winning Soap EastEnders - BBC. Also known for his role as Hamid Buzàncic in the BBC Radio 4 Drama Bearing Witness by Philip Palmer. (2012)
