e.E. Charlton-Trujillo grew up in small-town Texas and studied to be an actress before becoming a filmmaker, playwright and novelist. Charlton-Trujillo began her career at Killer Films (Carol) and later worked with directors Betty Thomas, Douglas McGrath and Lucy Walker. She has directed short films, music videos, short and feature documentaries and produced narrative feature films. She is also the author of three published novels: Prizefighter En Mi Casa, Feels Like Home, and the American Library Association's Stonewall Award Winner, Fat Angie. Her fourth novel Fat Angie: Rebel Girl Revolution has been called "The Breakfast Club on wheels" and releases March 2019. Fat Angie: Homecoming releases in 2020.
