George Shuba was an American professional baseball player. He was an outfielder for the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1948-1955 and played in 3 World Series. Shuba is remembered for an AP photo of his handshake at home plate with Jackie Robinson who was crossing the plate after a home run for the minor league Montreal Royals on April 18, 1946 that became an iconic image for the acceptance of black players in American professional sports.
