Douglas Haddad grew up in Wolcott, Connecticut, where he was a three sport varsity athlete in high school. Growing up, his writing caught the attention of his talented and gifted teacher who suggested that he submit his work for publication. Haddad went on to receive the "Young Author's Award" in his town and went on to write many short stories, which included horror and murder mysteries. After graduating from Central Connecticut State University, Haddad became a teacher and also spent his spare time writing and acting. He attended The Herbert Bergof Studio of New York and studied acting technique, scene study, and screenwriting in 2002. He also attended TVI Actors Studio of New York in 2003 and studied cold reading and auditioning with an intention to pursue a career in writing and acting. In addition to his work in front of the camera, Haddad went on to perform in a number of theatrical performances as well, debuting in 2001 at The Warner Theatre as Young Ebenezer Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol." He also performed in various interactive dinner theatrical performances for Carnival Cruises and Murder Mysteries on Lady Katharine Cruises playing the lead role of Rex Granville. He starred in Joey & Maria's Italian Comedy Wedding as the play's master of ceremonies Carmine Cannoli. Haddad is the author of the bestselling book The Ultimate Guide to Raising Teens and Tweens. He is an award-winning educator who has been recognized as the 2016-2017 "Teacher of the Year" in the Simsbury, Connecticut School District and a 2017 Teacher-Ambassador for Public Education in the State of Connecticut for being named a finalist for state teacher of the year. He has also been awarded as a 2020-2021 Fund for Teachers Fellow. Haddad has written over 200 published articles in the realm of parenting, self-help, science, and health and wellness for the likes of About, Demand Media, Livestrong, Men's Exercise, Parenting Special Needs, etc. His work has received high acclaim from the likes of New York Times bestselling authors Jack Canfield, Marianne Williamson, Marci Shimoff, and Dr. Bernie Siegel.
