Joe Marie Guevarra

Jomarie Guevarra ( born Jose Marie Arguelles on March 1 in Manila ) A Filipino actor, television personality. He took up primary school in Padre Jose Burgos Elementary School and graduated from Victorino Mapa High School. He took up BSBA Marketing Major in Polytecnic University of the Philippines where he is a varsity player in Basketball. Joey as he is called in Teresa, Sta. Mesa, Manila where he grew up, is the ninth of Pedrito C. Arguelles and Melba S. Arguelles out of their thirteen children. A good basketball player, singer and guitarist was a part of the then TV show Starbrighters in Channel 2 where he is partnered with Pinky Pascual among others. The program is pitted against German Moreno's That's Entertainment during the late 80's. He guested in several TV shows in both networks and some singing engagements. Credit for his discovery and entry into show business goes to a great family friend, the late Mr. Rudy (Rodsmore) Guevarra, who acted as his manager and mentor where he got his screen surname also. Rudy got him around with some help from entertainment friends and acquaintances. His first movie appearance was in "Petrang Kabayo at ang Pilyang Kuting" starring Roderick Paulate and Aiza Seguerra. He was one of the band members and friends of Janno Gibbs and Cris Villanueva. He was introduced in the Gary Valenciano and again Aiza Seguerra film "Papa's Girl" as Jomar Guevarra son of Johnny Wilson and a suitor of Alice Dixon. Both films were directed by Direk Chaning Carlos (Luciano Carlos).
