Jim DeVault was born to Rex B. DeVault and Frances Sheegog on February 28, 1957 in Santa Monica, California. At the age of eight, his parents returned to their roots in Texas, and Jim was raised there from that time on. Showing an interest in art and photography from a very early age, it was only natural that he would eventually become a filmmaker. He shot his first roll of film as a teenager, and has been active in film and video since that time. He first began recording his own musical compositions in 1982 while working as a radio announcer, using the stations production facilities before building his home studio. He has since recorded and released numerous music CDs on his own Stone Bell Creations label, and produced and released several short films through his own production company, Brainpie Media Productions. He would be in his fifties before tackling feature films with the release of The Sisters Four.
