Shuming He

HE Shuming is a director and screenwriter. Born in Singapore, He is a graduate of the Directing program at the American Film Institute (AFI) Conservatory. His works range from television commercials, music videos, short documentaries and fiction. He was conferred the prestigious Young Artist Award in 2019 by the National Arts Council, Singapore's highest artistic accolade. His debut feature film, Ajoomma, premiered at the 27th Busan International Film Festival in the prestigious New Currents section. It garnered 4 nominations at the 59th Golden Horse Awards in Taipei, including Best New Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Leading Actress and Best Supporting Actor. The film is also Singapore's entry for Best International Feature at the 95th Academy Awards.
