Ryd Cook makes naturalistic films inspired by life, people & experiences. His films have screened in festivals around the world including San Francisco, New York, Paris, London, & Cambridge. Ryd began making films in his teens. At college he studied Film, and created his first short films. His film "Esurio Admitto" won the Media Magazine Short Film competition. Ryd's short drama "Away" 2008 was selected for the Bootleg Film Festival 2008 & GLIMMER: Hull International Film Festival 2009. Ryd made comedy "My 60 Second Documentary About The Stuff What Is In This Room" in 2009. The film won the Shane Meadows Forum Mini Films competition, and was selected for the Disposable Film Festival 2010. In 2009 Ryd became a member of filmmaking collective Project Trident, and screened his films at TridentFest at Cambridge Film Festival 2009-2015. Sequel "My 60 Second Documentary About The Stuff What Is In This HOUSE" was selected for Disposable Film Festival 2011 & was used as a Vimeo Weekend Project example. The making of the film was featured on BBC Radio 4 documentary "Exploding Cinema" broadcast on 16th January 2011 Ryd's uplifting drama "Thrown". The film was selected for the 31st Cambridge Film Festival 2011. The film won him Best Director (Short Film) at Bootleg Film Festival Toronto, 2012. The film was also selected for Aesthetica Film Festival York, Edge of the City Film Festival London & Strawberry Shorts Film Festival Cambridge. in 2013 Ryd wrote, directed & released Drama/Animation/Fantasy film "BUCCANEARLY!". The film Premiered at Bootleg Film Festival, New York 2013, and screened in Cambridge Film Festival 2013. Ryd's 2014 Documentary "Bar Hill Skate Park" was shot, edited & released in one day, and gained over 3000 views online. The film helped the council's decision to commit to making sure there is a Skate Park in Bar Hill. Uplifting comedy drama "Aviatrix" premiered at Cambridge Film Festival 2015, and had 3 screenings at the festival. It was also selected for the Southend Short Film Festival, Received an Official Commendation from Strawberry Shorts Film Festival 2016, and screened at the Cambridge Big Weekend on 10th July 2016. Ryd wrote, directed, starred in & edited short "Single to London" in February 2016. The film premiered at TRIDENTFEST BRISTOL Cube Microplex Cinema to overwhelming positive reviews. On 3rd June 2016 the film screened and won Best International Film at the Toronto Smartphone Film Festival.
