Paul Rivers is a Toronto-based actor, known for appearances in Chucky (2021), The Boys (2019), 12 Monkeys (2015), Reign (2013), Hemlock Grove (2013), The Transporter (2012), Murdoch Mysteries (2008), and Suits (2011). Paul's numerous acting credits also span commercial, theatre, and voice-over work. Some of Paul's recent Toronto stage credits include Dark Heart, The Goat, The Baby, The Memo, and Much Ado About Nothing. Paul has an Honours BA in English and Drama from McMaster University and an MFA in Theatre (Directing) from the University of Victoria. He has worked as a director, actor, producer, and dramaturge in regional, fringe, and independent theatres. He has also reviewed new plays and contributed articles for Canadian Theatre Review and served a three-year appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in McMaster University's Theatre and Film Studies program, where he taught directing and acting courses. While at McMaster, Paul also directed several productions there, including An Enemy of the People, Pericles, and Possible Worlds. As Associate Director at Hamilton's Theatre Aquarius, Paul directed Lawrence & Holloman, MindLands, Never Swim Alone and Whole Lotto Love. In 2003, he directed The Long Christmas Dinner at the Shaw Festival as part of the Directors Project. Paul co-founded and served as Artistic Director of two Hamilton-based theatre companies: the Scaffold Theatre Project, where he directed open-air productions of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and As You Like It on the roof of a downtown shopping centre; and the Alchemist Theatre, where selected directing credits included Kvetch, The Anger in Ernest and Ernestine, Othello, and Glengarry Glen Ross.
