Ryan Eddleston is a Director of Photography. After graduating from Cardiff University in Journalism & Film in 2007, he began his career shooting documentaries, and in 2014 was double nominated a BAFTA Cymru for his cinematography for AMERICAN INTERIOR and THE POET WHO LOVED THE WAR: IVOR GURNEY, winning the BAFTA Cymru for the latter. Ryan is adept at capturing unapologetically strong performances in often intimate and vulnerable environments. A talent that was particularly evident in his work on Alice Lowe's directorial debut PREVENGE. In 2019 Ryan has had the feature film THE FIGHT - directed by Jessica Hynes - premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, was nominated for the BAFTA Cymru for his cinematography and Peter Bradshaw named him in the "Best cinematographer" picks of the year. He also had the feature film GOOD POSTURE - directed by Dolly Wells - premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival & the BFI London Film Festival. Ryan also worked with Alice Lowe, on a campaign of commercials with Saatchi & Saatchi for Direct Line called 'Survive the Horror', the car insurance film played before Joker in cinemas and upon its release, won Ad of the day. He also shot JUDITH a 45 minute film with director Grant Gee that screened on the opening night performance of 'Bluebeard' at the Munich Opera House, and worked on the GAZZA documentary directed by Sam Collins. In 2020 Ryan worked with Director Leigh Whannell on the UK pickups for THE INVISIBLE MAN, shot the feature film PHEA - directed by Rocky Palladino, the film LESBIAN. - directed by Rosemary Baker - for Random Acts, and commercials - directed by Gabriel Arrahnio - for Deloitte. Ryan has been selected for BFI NETWORK x BAFTA Crew 2021. Cardiff / Blackburn / London
