Born in Texas, Anthony W Gutierrez started his adventure in TV & film in the early 1980s on 2 films being shot simultaneously in downtown San Antonio; "Wrong is Right" starring his favorite 007 Bond, Sean Connery & "the Big Brawl" starring another action movie hero, Jackie Chan. Playing an extra on these movie sets is what triggered his love for the movies. Not only is he a fan, but he now had an idea of how those movies were made and applies that knowledge to this very day as a filmmaker. It wasn't until later in 2002 when Anthony made his start by getting hands on training in broadcast news; while working for a small town CBS & NBC station he learned the basics of storytelling, shooting, lighting and editing. It wasn't long before his passion for visual storytelling took a mind of it's own. Anthony's big break came in 2006 after he organized the 1st International Independent Film Festival for Y'all North Texas in Wichita Falls, Texas. (aka #IFFYNTX). The film festival was a hit with more than 150 films submitted; dozens of connections with other filmmakers and 150 zombies running through downtown made him realize he could do this and do it good. Soon after, he moved to Dallas, Texas to pursue his film career and his new found love of being a Steadicam Operator. From 2010 to 2021, Anthony has DP'd more than 25 short films, also started a pilot program for 1st Time Independent Female Filmmakers. As part of a #1stTiFF project; Anthony provided crew, resources, equipment and funding for the first time filmmakers. Then created a fund-raising campaign to expand the short film concepts into feature films. Anthony has been credited as Cinematographer for more than 20 feature length films; including the commercially successful western horror feature "The Merchant" which was later distributed by Lions Gate DVD and re-titled "Devil's Deal"; 2014 he was Cinematographer for Bloody Bill Picture's "Circus of the Dead" which has won several Best Picture Awards in addition to dozens of other awards at film festivals from around the world and is now available on VOD & Amazon. By 2016, Anthony wrapped principal photography on 3 feature length films : the sci-fi/supernatural thriller "the Quantum Terror" - the 1963 racially tense drama "Singleton Boulevard" (Winner Best Feature Film at the 1st National Black Film Festival in Houston, Tx.); and a story about a monster, "Animal Among Us" starring Heather Tom (the Young & the Restless), former MMA icon Don Frye, Christine Donlon (Entourage), Larisa Oleynik (10 Things I Hate About You), and International star Christian Oliver (Speed Racer, Valkyrie); and in 2017 did Steadicam and camera work for Garrett Kruithof's "Devil's Acid". As of 2021, Anthony has added Steadicam Operator credits for "Room 203", "Tazmanian Devil" and "47 Hours to Live" and Cinematographer credits for Buckskin, Copper Bill, Rodeo Thief, Honor Among Thieves and Meteor.
