Moira McDermott is a Vancouver-based multi-talented performer, involved in acting, voice work, writing and producing. Moira has several years of voice and acting training, including being a graduate of the Film Arts program at Langara College/Studio 58. Additionally, Moira has studied creative writing; marketing, and holds a Certificate of Fine Art Techniques from Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design. While at Langara Moira enjoyed great success with acting roles in numerous productions. She was the only student in her class to produce three short films during the term of the program - by invitation of her faculty to take on the additional challenges. Since graduating, she has been involved in developing and producing feature-length films. Moira spent her childhood singing and performing. A highlight was performing for visiting royalty. An avid storyteller, Moira was scripting and directing plays while still in her teens. Moira soon moved into broadcasting as a Host & Segment Producer for a cable TV lifestyle show. This lead to consulting work in public relations and advertising copy writing, resulting in several awards for Moira in these fields. Her significant number of on-mike and on-camera appearances as a media spokesperson, and some print modeling work, greatly inform Moira's performances today for commercial projects. Moira is very active in the arts community as member of Women in Film & Television Vancouver; a volunteer reader for audio textbooks for visually-impaired students; a former Board member of Intrepid Theatre in Victoria, BC; and numerous other volunteer roles for film festivals, theatre groups and music festivals.
