Brandi Self

Known for Strayed (2019), Deconstructing Val (2021), Mabel (2022), and Cul-de-sac (2023), Brandi Self is an award-winning, produced screenwriter based in Los Angeles who has spent the last two decades working in various departments of TV and film. Beginning as a development intern at MTV, she soon made her way through the wild world of reality television production, eventually finding herself knee-deep in intensive research as she wrangled facts and images for various companies. She has also contributed her talents to music videos and film all while honing her unique, insightful voice as a writer. Her writing tends to teeter on the edge of reality and fantasy, exploring such themes as love, morality, identity, oppression, alienation, and stagnation by catapulting characters into sometimes absurdly juxtaposed worlds where they must use self-examination as a tool for escape and redemption. She has several additional scripts in various stages of production.
