Jonathan Empson was born in Mansfield, UK. In 2009 he completed a Graduate Diploma of Screenwriting at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) in Sydney. One of his course projects was the pilot episode for a ten-part crime drama series, Chrome, which helped win him the $20,000 FOXTEL Scholarship for Exceptional Talent and was nominated for the Australian Writers' Guild Monte Miller Award. His historical comedy feature script Leonardo's War reached the top 30 of the Nicholl Fellowships in 2012, while another film project, the crime drama Get Out of Here, has been optioned and is in development. Jonathan also writes children's books, including Top Gear Best Bits books for Penguin (UK), and the LEGO Ninjago Hands of Time activity book story. His first teen novel, the post-apocalyptic adventure Then This Happened, was published in 2015 to five-star reviews. He lives in London.
