András Batta is a Ferenc Erkel prize and Szévhenyi prize awardee music historian, professor at Liszt Academy since 1979 and he was the Head of the Musicology and Music Theory Department and the Vice President of the Academy from 2002 to 2004. He is the author of several books. He studied musicology from 1972 to 1977 at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, then studied for a further 2 years at the University of Vienna. He worked as editor, author, presenter of music programs in the Hungarian and Austrian media.He was the President of Liszt Academy between 2004-2013. He has been the Council Member of the Association of European Conservatoires since 2009. In 2013 he was appointed a government position: he became commissioner for classical music. He co-founded the Hungarian Musicological Society.
