Kristof Hoornaert is a Belgian screenwriter and film director. His first short film "Kaïn" premiered in the official competition of the 59th Berlin International Film Festival, where it got nominated for the Golden Bear. He also edited the short film "Nuclear Waste" by Ukrainian filmmaker Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy (triple Cannes winner of The Tribe), which premiered in the official competition of the 65th Locarno International Film Festival, where it won the Silver Leopard. In 2013 he wrote, directed and produced his second short film "The Fall" - a 17 minute no-budget short film that was shot in only 1 day. The film won several awards and got selected in more than 40 film festivals worldwide. "Empire", his third short film, premiered in the world competition of the 39th Montreal World Film Festival and got selected for the 59th BFI London Film Festival. His first feature film "Resurrection" premiered in the First Features Competition of the 21st Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and was selected for the 47th International Film Festival Rotterdam.
