Hamid Najafi-Rad was born in Tehran in 1980. He began his artistic career acting in high-school theater productions and he quickly fell in love with the cinema. In those early days, Hamid thought of cinema as the most complete of all the arts. After Hamid received his diploma he began studies at the Iranian Youth Cinema Society, made his first short films and became acquainted with film editing. Hamid was excited by the challenges of editing and began to learn through experience. Since 2000, Hamid has edited over 250 documentary films, 50 short films, 5 full-length feature films and 20 trailers for feature films. During these years of continuous editing, he has gained experience in all phases of cinema. His recent editing assignment, When the Moon Was Full, directed by one of Iran's most famous directors, Narges Abyar, received great reviews inside and outside of Iran. It won the Crystal Simorgh for Best Film at the 37th Fajr International Film Festival in 2019 as well as awards in six other categories. Hamid has recently decided to try his hand at directing.
