Ciro D'Emilio was born in Pompeii and, finished high school, he moved to Rome where he studied cinema at the University of RomaTre. In 2007 he wrote, produced and directed his first short film, "The Other", with the young group Forme di vita produzioni. This short film, which deals with the serious problem of xenophobia, he won many national and international awards, as the Best European Short Award at the West Hollywood Int'l Film Festival 2008. With the same team produced and directed many music videos of italian hip hop music. In 2011 he creates, with Manuela Ianniello, the Road To Pictures Film, and produced his second short film, "Massimo", which tells the story of a young Italian soldier on a mission in the Middle East. In 2013 he directed his third short film, "Coming Back", the story of a small family from the province. The short film gets various prizes in Italy and abroad. In 2013 he worked as assistant director for "Gomorra La Serie", collaborating with directors Stefano Sollima, Claudio Cupellini and Francesca Comencini. In 2017 he produces and directs the short film "It's raining", which gets more than 60 selections in national and international festivals, including 4 Oscar Qualifying festivals, and winning dozens of prizes. In 2018 he directed his first feature film, "Un giorno all'improvviso" (If Life Gives You Lemons), premiered at the 75th Venice Film Festival.
