Diego Westendarp

Diego Westendarp is a Mexican music composer with more than ten years of experience in the industry. He has made soundtracks for commercial release films and multi-awarded independent films at international festivals. His soundtracks are assembled mainly by new classical atmospheres resembling composers such as Ólafur Arnalds, Ludovico Einaudi, and Gustavo Santaolalla. He studied musical composition at the Excellence Composers CIEM School and the UNAM's National School of Music in Mexico City. He studied jazz at DIM Music School and was part of the Berklee Film Scoring 101 online program. In 2012 he partook in the Mexican Film Music Laboratory hosted by producer Bertha Navarro where he had composer Michael Nyman as a mentor. Diego plays piano and guitar. His eclectic musical taste influences his style with resemblances of folk, blues, jazz, progressive rock, world, and electronic music. He works from a small cabin nestled in the Mexican mountains accompanied by two cats, a doggy, and his loving wife.
