Richard Toews

Richard, son of Isaac and Frieda Toews, grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, He attended school with film director, Allan Kroeker. Richard and Allan formed a close friendship while sneaking out of school, choosing, rather, to spend the time in the dark of the movie theatre. After high school, Richard attended Waterloo Lutheran University where he took is first degree in Political Science. After graduation, Richard found work as assistant to the Premier of the Province of British Columbia. Politics was not Richard's sphere of interest, however. Richard returned to Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC, to complete his doctoral studies in Anthropology. While completing his doctoral studies, he enrolled in SFU's film program, and completed his first novel. Since completing his film studies, Richard has done some work on small independent films as an actor. Only recently, Richard has turned his hand to directing. Richard is married to Davinder Toews and has two daughters, Adrianna Bercht and Ariel Toews
