Roy was born and raised in the northeast and is the youngest of 3, with two older sisters. Growing up, sports always played a big role in his life. He trained competitively in tennis, soccer, ice hockey, and lacrosse, in which he earned All-American honors in high school. After playing lacrosse at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania his freshman year, Roy moved to Florida to train full-time to become a professional tennis player. Roy returned to college, earning his B.A. degree from Florida Atlantic University. Soon thereafter, he completed his studies at the Palm Beach Film School in West Palm Beach, Florida. While there, Roy wrote, directed, edited, and starred in the award-winning short film, "Dotted Lines." It was during this time that "the bug" hit him, and since then, Roy has starred, or co-starred, in a long list of television shows, full-length and short Indie movies. An exciting moment was when he was chosen by James Brolin after auditioning in front of him for a supporting role in a short movie, directed by Brolin, and starring Brolin and Dean Cain. His breakout role as a lead in a feature film came as Evan Bennett, in the award winning film, "Seven Deadly Words", in which he earned Best Actor at the Coal River Film Festival. Roy has performed extensively in local and national television commercials, including campaigns for Burger King, USGA, and IBM, to name a few. In addition to film and tv, Roy loves the energy and excitement of live theatre. Some of his favorite roles were Mr. Halliday in "Dial M for Murder" and his most recent, a one-night performance to a 700+ crowd in the family comedy, "Beau Jest", portraying the lovable gentile, Chris Kringle, whom Roy often says was the role of a lifetime for him. In Fall of 2017, Roy began production on a short film that is adapted from a feature screenplay, "Fighting Johhny O'Brian", that his father wrote in which he will be starring in as well and is excited to be collaborating on a project with his father. Shooting should occur in February of 2018 and should hit festivals before the year is over.
