Colby, a native of Santa Cruz, California, first got bitten by the theater bug at age 10 when he played the Scarecrow in a children's theater production of The Wiz. Musicals or straight plays, community theater to professional gigs, from that point on he was hooked. So much so, that after once participating in three different plays in one weekend and numerous shows each year, he knew he wanted to take a more serious plunge into acting. Colby left for boarding school at age 14. A rigorous academic course load and four years of varsity tennis didn't stop him from twice touring with his school's reputable theater troupe through Hawaii and the United Kingdom. He also found time to participate in regional shows throughout the area. Colby attended The George Washington University in DC, earning bachelor degrees in both English with Creative Writing and Dramatic Literature while spending the bulk of his time directing and acting in student plays. He is especially proud of his work as "A" in Sarah Kane's "Crave", the conflicted (and sometimes naked) Claude in "HAIR" and his modern adaptation of Jesus Christ Superstar which won him best director and best show for the Generic Theater Awards in 2009. While in Los Angeles, Colby wrote the Best of Hollywood Fringe production "Gospel of a Teenage Jesus," studied television acting under Lesly Kahn and commercial acting under Carolyn Barry, and can now be seen performing live improv and sketch while continuing his acting career on film.
