Jim Genia

Jim Genia is a reporter and journalist who specializes in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA. Genia established himself in New York City by covering secret unsanctioned illegal events in the city's five boroughs, plus sanctioned amateur and professional MMA competitions. Genia started writing professionally about combat sports in 2001, spending ten years as a writer and reporter with Full Contact Fighter. He wrote extensively about the efforts to legalize professional MMA in New York, and attended his first UCL event--Underground Combat League-- in February 2003. Genia authored the book "Raw Combat" which was published in 2011. Genia has profiled Peter Storm, the founder and promoter of the unsanctioned Underground Combat League, professional fighter Lyman Good, and referee Dan Miragliotta. Genia is a writer and managing editor for Caged Insider.
