Graduated with distinction in Audiovisual Communication at Carlos III University of Madrid in 2009, Ayuso made his debut as director with Final Evaluation (2011). That was produced by the acclaimed Zampanò P.C. (Juan and the Cloud (2014)) and obtained 14 international selections in festivals from Mexico, Chile or Ecuator. Since then, he has helmed music videos for Spanish rock bands such as Dardem (Dardem: La Noche de San Juan (2013), Dardem: El Reloj (2017) and Dardem: Gilipollas (2019)) or Nostalghia (Nostalghia: Nostalgia (2013), co-directed with Argentinian cinematographer Roberto Castelli). In 2016, he released De-mente (2016), his latest effort as director. Produced by Amania Films, and with a strong cast led by Ayuso's go-to-actor Sergio Sánchez Shaw and Malcolm Treviño-Sitté (of Pepe's Beach Bar (2014) fame), the short film was shown in well-regarded festivals as FANT Bilbao or Terror Film Festival and won a handful of awards. In that same year, he wrote the script for Extático (2016), directed by Azahara Gómez and premiered at 54th Gijon Film Festival; and served as executive producer for another two short films, Tiempos muertos (2017) and Villa Mnemósine (2016). When not busy making movies (or trying to), he serves as an accomplished storyboard artist and works as film and TV critic for Spanish magazines such as 'Vertele', 'Cine Divergente', ElDiario.es and 'Versión Original', among others.
