Manny Rey

MANNY REY Born and raised in El Paso, actor and writer Manny Rey is carving his path in Hollywood. He is the oldest of four. His mother, Cecilia, retired after a successful career as a nurse recruiter for a hospital. His father, Manuel, is an internationally renowned basketball referee. Being bilingual served Manny well, first during his 15 year tenure as a professional civil engineer in Chicago and Austin and later after listening to his heart and following his true passions...acting and writing. His first big acting break was staring with Bryan Cranston in a final season episode of Breaking Bad (2013). Manny is happiest with roles that stretch his abilities as a character actor. Manny is a triple threat as he possesses the charm of a Joe Mantegna, the cold intensity of a Benicio Del Toro or James Russo and a panther-like physicality of a young Brando. He gets cast as a cop and detective, but more often he nabs the role of villain, psychopath, crime boss, hit-man, among other undesirables . A chameleon on the small screen, Manny has appeared on the critically acclaimed shows..."BREAKING BAD", "THE NIGHT SHIFT", and "QUEEN OF THE SOUTH". On the big screen, Manny has co-starred in several films, such as, "Line of Duty", "Between Kings and Queens", "Frame Switch", as well as playing the lead in "Enemy of the Mind", which he also wrote and produced. Manny has written nine feature screenplays, three sit-com pilots, and two drama series pilots in addition to writing close to forty short screenplays. Manny writes daily and works continuously on tapping into his Universal creativity and finessing his writing process while always finding ways to PITCH and produce his creations. Most recently, Manny acquired the life-story and book rights to The Lioness of Judah and has adapted a screenplay based on the amazing true story of Holocaust survivor, Sara Hauptman. Manny enjoys the film festival circuit, where his latest short, ONE, has won numerous accolades. He often collaborates with producing partners, Producer/Director/Actress Annette Reid, and famed Actor/Director Carlos Carrasco (SPEED, BLOOD IN / BLOOD OUT). In addition to his acting and writing, Manny enjoys spending time with his wife and four daughters. He enjoys meditating, cooking, running, and coaching his youngest in softball.
