Loren Escandon is an award-winner AfroLatinx Colombian actress and filmmaker. She has extended experience in dance, theater, television, and film. Loren earned a degree in Theater with a minor in Communications at Universidad del Valle in her native Colombia. Loren recently filmed the anticipated film Purple Hearts for Netflix (2022) and the series Casa Grande (2022), acquired by Warned Bros. She recurred on the MGM series, The Baxters (2019), based on Karen Kingsbury's books, and the CW Original, The Messengers (2015). Other credits include Selena (2020), Truth Be Told (2021), Gentefied (2020), and SWAT (2020), among others. Loren directed and wrote the short film anthology Phone Tales, invited to multiple festivals in 2018. Her latest Film, Los Patines, won Best short at San Pedro International Film Festival, Best Latino short and Director at NYC Downtown Short Film Festival, and Screenplay at the Panamanian International Film Festival/LA, among others. She is an Alum of the Warner Media and HFPA Tomorrow's Filmmaker's Today Class of 2021. Loren has toured as a theatre-maker with her one-woman show, Montera, across sold-out venues in NYC, Madrid, Moscow, and La Habana. She was awarded Best Performer for a Solo Show at the HOLA and ACE awards in 2013. As an artist, Loren continues to train as an actor while widening her interest in writing and directing. She is focused on telling stories of women of color that connect us to our humanity, bringing joy and hope. Still, most of all, Loren wants to represent her AfroLatinx culture with pride.
