Steve Goldbloom is a writer, producer and performer best known for creating Brief But Spectacular (2015), the weekly interview series for PBS NewsHour (1975). The intention of Brief is to elicit empathy from the viewer by presenting an original voice on a universal subject and inviting the audience to walk in someone else's shoes. Since its launch in 2015, Steve has interviewed more than 300 guests, including: Alec Baldwin, Terry Gross, Danai Gurira, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Gloria Steinem, Norman Lear, Prisoners from San Quentin, Carl Reiner, Tig Notaro, Steve Martin, Bryan Cranston, Marina Abramovic, and many more. Brief is one of PBS's best performing series with more than 250 million views to date. The series was nominated for a News and Doc Emmy in 2018 for its outstanding coverage of addiction and recovery at the Betty Ford Foundation in Minnesota. In Fall 2019, Brief will debut in Canada with an original limited run on CBC featuring many diverse Canadian voices, including Phan Thi Kim Phuc from the iconic "Napalm Girl" photo in Vietnam. In 2018, Steve created and executive produced the weekly series for Facebook Watch called That Moment When (2018). The show explores crucial turning point moments that alter the direction of a person's life. Steve has interviewed Steve Martin & Martin Short, Steven Pinker, Gloria Steinem, Patton Oswalt, Bryan Stevenson and many more for the show. The New York Times recommend the series in their "What to Watch" column in 2019. In 2015, Steve wrote and directed his first feature film, Remember Me (2016), starring legendary Oscar-Winner Rita Moreno. The film premiered at the 2016 Cinequest Film Festival, winning the audience award for Best Narrative Feature Comedy. The film received a very positive review from The Hollywood Reporter and earned theatrical distribution from The Orchard. Steve has created several comedy series for digital platforms, including: Everything But the News (2014) for PBS and "On The Brink Of Greatness" for AOL. He has also contributed to the PBS NewsHour as a special correspondent since 2015. Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Steve runs his production company Second Peninsula from Los Angeles where he lives with his wife and daughter.
