Kipan Rothbury was born in Sydney Australia, to Brigitte Bachkine, a gardener, and Vike Rothbury, a builder and carpenter. He is of French, British, Russian and Scottish ancestry. His mother and father met fruit picking on a farm after his father stowed away on a cargo ship when they both arrived in Australia in the early 1970s. With his breakthrough performance in the series Significant Strangers, playing quadruplet Australian brothers, in which he also wrote, co produced and direct, Kipan Rothbury is recognized as a remarkable talent strongly influences by the transformative approach to acting. Kipan (Arthur Bachkine) Rothbury was born on 31 May 1985 in Sydney Australia, he grew up in a free minded family, attending Steiner Schools until he was a teenager. Kipan spent much of his life traveling extensively, having traveled to nearly 60 countries gaining a great enthusiasm for exploration and the natural world. His early career began as a stuntman on the Matrix film trilogies, he then spent the next two years working as an environmental spokesperson for Greenpeace Pacific, while studying environmental science he found his calling in filmmaking and became dedicated to the significance of the protection of the earth's natural ecosystems, through the medium of filmmaking. An environmental spokesperson and animal rights activist, In 2008 Kipan established his production company Tree Leaf Films, committed to creating socially relevant films and documentaries encouraging ecological awareness and environmental action. Kipan trained at Actors Center Australia after a short stint in London at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, and he has since worked the last decade as an actor, director and filmmaker throughout Europe, Australia and the United States. He has starred in a variety of award-winning films including Love Untitled, The Blue Fox, The Lost Aviator, Girl From The North Country and Sacred Heart and has worked opposite actors including Sam Neil, David Field, Michael Caton and Miranda Richardson. Recent work includes: Rams, The Lost Aviator, Castrated Spiders, Film Noir, Girl From The North Country and Love Untitled. In 2017 he completed filming his 9-year film project Significant Strangers as well Road North his upcoming American film directing debut. Kipan is heavily influenced by the transformative approach to filmmaking and applies these techniques in all of his screen work.
