Jose Ignacio Gomez is a bi-lingual actor an independent film producer with dual citizenship. He was born in Venezuela in 1975 and became an American citizen in 2012. The transition to acting happened toward the end of his bachelor's degree in literature, when he joined the acting school Luz Columba, where he studied with acclaimed acting teacher Nelson Ortega. After performing in telenovelas, commercials and stages in Caracas he had the opportunity to moved to the US in 2002. He lived in Miami for three years, where he performed minor roles in telenovelas and independent films. He took a job touring in the west coast, and after six month in California and in other states and cities he decided to moved to the big apple. Studying with James Price at The Acting Studio, Gomez was inspired to enter the MFA program at the Actors Studio Drama School, where he graduated in 2014. Instructors also included Elizabeth Kemp and Susan Aston. Following his degree work he continued a two-year tenure at The Actors Studio where his performance mentors included Estelle Parsons, Ellen Burstyn and Melissa Leo. Parsons, directed Gomez in the role of Saint Peter in a production of "The Last Days of Judas Iscariot" by Pulitzer Prize playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis. His principle role in "Carmen," is also his debut as a co-producer. The feature was shot in NYC. Although acting is now the focus of his professional life, his initial interests included writing poetry and fiction, as well as electric and classical guitar. He also sang in choirs during his years in Venezuela. "The moment I held my first script I knew that acting was what I had been looking to do with my life," says Gomez, who praises his parents, both psychoanalysts, introduced him as a boy to the world of the arts.
