Ivan Mazza was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1972, he emigrated with his parents to Venezuela, where he spent his first years of life. He returned to Uruguay in 1982, at the end of the military dictatorship. There, he studied in the Universidad de la República (UDELAR), where he obtained a degree in Psychology. In 2001 he returned to Venezuela where he started to work in television and began directing documentaries about the environment and the impact of the oil industry over it. In 2002, with only a backpack and a professional digital video camera, he traveled across the five continents for a period of a year, filming a series of short films for television about the cultural diversities of the world. In 2004 he created UltraPro Films, and started producing independently financed films between Uruguay and Venezuela. He has won a series of cinema funds like the Ibermedia Fund and the FONA Fund in Uruguay as well as the CNAC Fund In Venezuela. In 2009 he filmed his first short fiction: "Tuya" (Yours), which was selected for many festivals around the world. Ivan Mazza is now preparing his first feature length film "The Last Word" which is in development. He is also the author of the feature length screenplay "Dando Vueltas" which has already won several Funds like the FONA and ICAU in Uruguay, as well as the Ibermedia Fund on 2009.
