Priyadarshini

Priyadarshini is an Singaporean-Indian playback singer. She began her singing career by performing a duet song with Hariharan for the Tamil film Kadhal Dot Com under music director Bharathwaj. She later sung a duet with S. P. Balasubrahmanyam for Yash's Kannada movie Rocky. She has sung over 130 movies in the Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi languages. She has worked with renowned music directors including Bharathwaj, D. Imman, Hamsalekha, Mano Murthy, Gurukiran, R. P. Patnaik, Rajesh Ramnath, K. Kalyan, S. A. Rajkumar, Venkat, Ganesh Narayan, M N Krupakar, Mahesh Mahadev, C R Bobby, Ravish A T and others. The soundtrack for her recent Tamil Movie Naan Than Bala was released by Venkat Krishi. Her few hit movies include Cheluvina Chittara, Rocky, News, Nandhi, Preethiyinda Ramesh, Kusthi, Seena, Nermugam, Nannedeya Haadu, Win, Kadhal Dot Com, Giri, Simhabaludu, Manikyam 420 and many others. She has sung on over 200 albums and jingles. She is considered to be the first Indian playback singer to receive Ph.D degree in 100 years of Film Music study Early and personal life ---------- Priyadarshini was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. She grew up in Singapore. Her father Ramachandran is an chemical engineer and worked for a Spanish engineering company Técnicas Reunidas as a Director and her mother, Sumathi is a homemaker who worked at Secretariat, government of Tamil Nadu Education ----- Priyadarshini completed her schooling from Northland Primary School and Yishun Junior College, Singapore. She completed her BTech degree in Electrical and Electronics from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She obtained an MA degree in Music from University of Madras. She also competed Post Graduation in Naturopathy & Yogic sciences from University of Madras. Priyadarshini received a PhD degree in Film Music from University of Mysore Music Research ------- Priyadarshini carried out her research in film music 'Music in Kannada and Tamil Cinema - A study' a research study from the period 1917-2020 in the Tamil film industry and 1931-2020 in the Kannada film Industry with a record of longest thesis of 1080 pages under research guide Dr. C. A. Sreedhara. She received her Ph.D degree from Governor-Chancellor Thawarchand Gehlot and Higher Education Minister C. N. Ashwathnarayan during the 101st convocation of the University of Mysore. Performance ------ She has performed for Special Musical show in the presence of Bollywood Legendary Music Director OP Nayyar for 'OP Nayyar Musical Night', Legendary Bollywood Actor Director Dada Saheb Phalke awardee Padmashri Manoj Kumar and many popular Film shows. Performed with Legendary Singers Dr. SP Balasubramaniam, Yesudas & Hariharan for musical shows and sung for many shows in India & abroad.
