DC Raymond was born and raised in New Orleans, the son of Frederick Raymond and Renette Dominick. He is of Louisiana Creole descent, a centuries-old blend of freed African slave, Spanish and French colonials, native Choctaw, and Irish immigrant. Displaced after Hurricane Katrina, DC wrote his first full screenplay for what would eventually become As Good as Dead, a zombie comedy. After returning to New Orleans, he raised $5000 and shot As Good as Dead over the course of the next 3 years. His only goal when writing it had been to screen it at the film festival for Dragon*Con in Atlanta, his favorite science fiction convention. It made it into the fest in 2009, nominated for best screenplay. For the next decade, he worked both in and out of the industry, producing, writing, and directing several shorts, many with his frequent collaborating partner, Matthew Garvin, writing the comic book Welcome to Border City, and working on several novels.
