Originally from Kettering, Ohio, Ben studied acting on scholarship at The Neighborhood Playhouse before furthering his studies at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music. Making his Broadway debut, Ben played his cello and the role of Anthony in John Doyle's Tony Award winning revival of Sweeney Todd. He also performed on the Grammy nominated cast recording and recreated his role on the road in the first national tour. More recently, Ben spent two years playing the Bank Manager (and several musical instruments) on the first national tour and Broadway productions of Once, the musical. Other credits include Indecent at Chicago's Victory Gardens Theater, Des McAnuff's Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls and Cameron Mackintosh's 25th Anniversary national tour of Les Miserables. As a singer and musician Ben has played in venues as varied as San Francisco's Plush Room to New York's Bowery Ballroom and Sin-é; and from The Boston Opera House to The Pantages in Los Angeles. His album Old Songs with The Fret Knots was released digitally and on vinyl in 2016.
