City of birth : No data

Alan M. Ehrlich was born in New York, grew up in New Jersey, attended college in New England, attended grad school in New Mexico, and, running out of states/regions beginning with "New," moved to Los Angeles with a wife and 4-month old baby to become a writer after finishing everything for his Ph.D. but his dissertation--"A Study of Dramatic Space in Modern Drama." After a year waiting tables in L.A., he secured his first job in the industry--like David O. Selznick--reading and evaluating movie scripts. The free lance work turned into two decades of continuous union employment for virtually every major studio, where he read and helped develop as a story analyst numerous award-winning and box office successes, including "Amadeus," "The Truman Show," and "The Hours." He recently traded in story analyzing for a return to more creative endeavors as an actor and writer. He has appeared in several features as an actor and his novel, "Plunket in Wonderland," has been published by Sunning Turtle Press. He and his wife, Harvard-Westlake Middle School English Teacher, Ellen Danna Ehrlich, have two adult sons, film-maker Jake Ehrlich and musician Zack Ehrlich, whose wife, Amanda Harper, is a musician/singer/song-writer.
