Freya has been involved in the film and theatre industries in New Zealand since she was very young, having trained in ballet, contemporary dance and musical theatre since age 3. She has been coached in accents and acting by internationally renowned acting coach Miranda Harcourt since age 11. Her first role was as a presenter on the Disney channel, aged 10, having been scouted out through her school, soon after which she was cast in the role of Jackie Meyer in Sir Peter Jackson's 'The Lovely Bones' (2009). Over the next few years she was in a steady stream of lead and supporting roles in commercials for both New Zealand and American audiences, including a Smokefree ad directed by Taika Waititi, and a Verizon ad directed by Garth Davis (2012). In her final year of school Freya was cast in the lead role of Cissy Smith in the TVNZ 6 part miniseries 'When We Go To War' (2015), commemorating a century since WWI. She took a gap year in order to complete this project. Most recently she has worked on several web series and short films, most notably 'Bright Summer Night' (2016), a 10 part series by The Candle Wasters. Freya has also worked behind the scenes in various production assistant, casting, and consulting roles, offering character perspectives for upcoming film "The Changeover" directed by Miranda Harcourt and Stuart McKenzie.
