Marvin Lemus is a Mexican/Guatemalan-American Writer, Director and Producer. Lemus' work in digital comedy ranges from successful viral video campaigns for the Roadside Attractions/Lionsgate feature film, Dear White People, and brands such as Anheuser-Busch and Nissan. His work has gained millions of views and been featured on Huffington Post, Gizmodo, and Upworthy to name a few. However, his grandmother still hasn't seen any of them because she doesn't know what YouTube is and only speaks Spanish. Outside of the digital world, Lemus is a Film Independent Project: Involve Alumni. As a Project Involve Fellow, Lemus directed the short film, Vàmonos, which went on to win awards at Frameline40, NBCUniversal Short Film Festival, and a prestigious Imagen Award. He also won a free trip to Switzerland once to receive the Best Web Series Award at the 2013 Montreux Comedy Festival for the sketch, Vine Tries to Make a Commercial for Vine in Vine. Lemus' grandmother would especially not understand the concept of Vine, but at least he got that trip out of it. Lemus' digital series, Gente-fied, a bilingual series produced by MACRO, (production company behind Fences and Mudbound) attracted the attention of America Ferrera and motivated her to sign on as an Executive Producer. Gente-fied recently premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and is being developed for television. Lemus hopes this will help his grandmother finally understand what he does for a living.
