Jahna Houston made her acting debut as a series regular in season one of the edgy new drama "Get Thee Behind Me," in the role of news reporter Janelle Mitchell. The show aired on the ION Network during the summer followed by KJLA-TV in the fall of 2010. It was picked up by the national network Punch TV in fall 2011. She was also a writer and associate producer on the show. Jahna brought to the role a love of acting and over a decade of media experience including radio commentator on the Cable Radio Network and five years as a talk show host/producer on Time Warner Cable. She tackled her first lead role in a feature film in the Richard Lee Givens family comedy "A Little Problem," released in 2011. Jahna has been married for almost three decades years to veteran actor, director, musician Fitz Houston. They have 6 grandchildren (2 boys, 4 girls) ages 2-11years. Jahna's industry experience includes eight years as a color timing assistant at the MGM/Metrocolor Lab, as well as story analyst work at Lorimar, MGM and Columbia TV. She has also worked as a first assistant director and unit publicist. Through their independent company JahnaHugh Entertainment, Jahna and Fitz have produced numerous promotional videos, special event videos and actors reels as well as two acclaimed short films, "Too Young to Die" and "Just Another Day," Jahna's directorial debut. Just Another Day was part of the Palm Springs Short Film Market in 2008. Jahna was very busy in 2014, cast in lead roles in three different theatrical productions including "Undertow" by 1920s Harlem Renaissance playwright Eulalie Spence." Her role as a small town sheriff in the 1940s in the stage and film versions of "I Feel Like Going On" (Biblical Films Network). earned her the first of two consecutive Coleman Smith Artistic Awards (COLSAC) in 2016. The second award came a year later for her supporting role in the the play "Guess Who's Coming for Me?"
