Allistair Shane McCray is a Native American (Navajo/Diné) filmmaker. McCray's avant-garde approach to directing, writing, and producing film projects considers the juxtaposition of western theory, traditional Navajo philosophy, and his personal love of films. McCray was born and raised on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Northwest New Mexico. His upbringing was balanced between a culturally rich, traditional, Navajo home life and a combination of public and private school education. While studying architecture and graphic design at Northern Arizona University, McCray took attention to the visual aesthetics, composition, and humanist aspects movement of the Early Modern and Industrial Age architecture and transferred elements of this interest to film production. Beginning in 2005, McCray began as an intern working behind the scenes at Albuquerque television and public broadcast stations where he received an invaluable hands-on introduction to television, assisting administrative and film crew personnel, while gaining a greater understanding of the television industry, both commercial broadcasting and broadcast syndication programming. Following years of experience in film production (development, pre-production, production, post-production and distribution) of independent and short films, including contribution of production assistance to television and blockbuster movies filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, McCray has turned to write/direct his own films. McCray has built a solid reputation of producing quality film projects that captivates his audience by using strong and highly developed aesthetic visual awareness. His proficiency in design elements and programs enables him to refine his productions with precision and attention to detail. Consequently, his work is well known in the Albuquerque, New Mexico film community and its value is evident through artistic and commercial successes of his film projects.
