Modela Kurzet was born Deaf to Deaf parents, Family emigrated to Canada in 1983 and settled in Toronto . Modela was first role student movie " Children of a Lesser God " 1986 and " Bridge to Silence " 1989 . She then took acting classes at the New School of Drama, and later took further training as an actor at Granton Institute of Technology. Her working life has been focused almost entirely on an acting career , both in film and on videotape, often working on projects related to Deafness. In 1986 she acted as anecdotist or spokeswoman, for the Canadian Hearing Society's production of the video Deaf Communication. Modela served as youth leader and instructor for the Signs of Summer Program directed by Michele Pinet for A Show of Hands Theatre Company. In 2000 she was lead actor in the videotape Interacting with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, directed by Larry Fugate for the Los Angeles Police Department to be used as a visual aid in Its training program. The Toronto Association of the Deaf and City of Los Angeles awarded Modela a certificate of appreciation and thanks for her valuable efforts and support .
