Alessio Cappelletti

Alessio Cappelletti is a filmmaker originally from Rhode Island. He studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan, which has contributed tremendously to his skills as a director and acting coach. He studied film production and theater directing at Brooklyn College and was one of the Founding Board Members/ Resident Directors of the highly acclaimed international arts company Mind the Art Entertainment (NYC). Since 2007, Mind the Art Entertainment has collaborated with over 600 artists, internationally, and has had many great successes: having multiple shows well received in the NYC Fringe Festival a few years in a row and at the La Mama Theater, acclaim from the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post, Broadway World, and Time Out New York. Mind The Art Entertainment also had the honor of hosting the pre-award reception for the 2010 Drama Desk Awards at Lincoln Center (Catherine Zeta-Jones, Scarlett Johansson, Jeff Bridges, and Christopher Walken in attendance). There, Alessio was given the opportunity to promote his upcoming feature length project "Dreams of the Youth", which attracted an astounding amount of attention. The president of MTAE, Christian De Gre, who also works with the United Nations and also had his own musical produced at NYC Fringe by Executive Producer of the Drama Desk Awards- Robert R. Bloom, was a producer on Alessio's short film, "Broken Crayons". "Broken Crayons" was shot on Super 16mm and pro8mm out to 2k Digital Intermediate with an all children cast of actors who this was their first ever performance and acting experience. Broken Crayons. It was lensed by cinematographer Brendan Uegama, CSC and was the recipient of "The Golden Palm" at the 2011 Mexico International Film Festival and an "Honorable Mention" at the 2010 Los Angeles Movie Awards, as well as, much praise from the president of Andrew Lauren Productions (producer of Vox Lux with Natalie Portman, High Life with Robert Pattinson and The Squid and the Whale with Jeff Daniels)). Andrew Lauren Productions also gave a letter of Industry Endorsement for Alessio's upcoming film "Dreams of the Youth". Alessio's work as a writer premiered on Broadway for Christian DeGre's and Mind The Art Entertainment's musical "A Drink With Death" in October 2016 and then moved to a venue at the Public Theater. Alessio's most recent directorial exploit, "The Date", got unanimous critical acclaim and appeared at LA Neo Noir Novel Script and Film Festival, Crescent City Film and Arts Festival, Para Cinema Film Festival, and was a finalist for Shivers Film Festival. His upcoming features and TV projects have gotten initial financing and attached acclaimed Hollywood collaborators including Charles E. McCarry (winner of the Excellence in Art Design Award from the Art Director's Guild for "Ugly Betty"), Brendan Uegama CSC (Adventures of Sabrina, Child's Play, Riverdale Season 2), Javier Gonzales (producer of "In The Radiant City" with Paul Sparks and more recently a film with Hayley Bennet), Adrienne Stern (renowned Casting Director), etc. His upcoming film Para La Paz (For Peace...) is represented by Donaldson and Callif. In 2018, Alessio was asked to be one of five jury members and to be one of the presenters for the film festival for the Stone Street FDDA ESRA Program alongside acclaimed director Jean Stephane-Sauvaire (Johnny Mad Dog, "A Prayer Before Dawn" with Joe Cole) and Adam Speilberg ("Fan Girl" with Kiernan Shipka). Alessio is also a renowned Acting Coach who, besides specific scene/character/and audition coaching, offers actors a 2 year Private Acting curriculum which is an alternative to studying at a conservatory. His program is focused on teaching every functional acting technique in the world in its purest form with an end result of being able to do what he has coined as "Five Level Characterizing" (i.e. total safe psycho-emotional immersion and physical disappearance into said character). This program includes a 350 page book of lecture notes on every functional acting technique in the world; critical analysis, exercises, usages, and history. He was featured cover boy for the August 2016 issue of IMAGINE MAGAZINE for his work. He has coached actors all over the world including Brasil and Canada and his actors have gone on to book agents, managers, and have garnered lead roles on films that have gotten press in publications like Variety and appeared on networks like Ion TV. He has directed various pieces of theater including Keelie Sheridan's "A Woman in Progress", produced by Mind the Art Entertainment, which had its world premiere at the legendary La Mama Theater in NYC in January of 2011. On the side, Alessio works as a private entertainment business liaison and advisor between Actors, Producers, Directors, Investors and Agents with a focus on contract "red lining" and strategic negotiating. He has worked both with domestic productions and international Co-productions. Alessio also works as an Editor, VFX Artist, and Colorist on films like "Roll of the Dice" (2019) and "Dreams of Rico" (2020). Outside of film and theater, he is an accomplished fine art photographer and spoken word poet. He has been published in three different poetry anthologies and his work in photography has been exhibited at various venues and most recently in NYC, where he was also invited to be a member of the Dutch Kills Gallery, though had to turn it down. In his youth, he won the statewide Gold Key Photography Portfolio Award for his work in B&W photography, as well as LaSalle Academy's Art Leadership Award. For poetry, he competed on the Providence Youth Poetry Slam Team in Los Angeles at the 2004 Annual Youth National Slam Competition and made it to the final stage with ten other teams. In 2004, he also managed and headlined a two month national poetry/hip-hop tour called "The Cabaret of Peace Poetry Tour" performing at major venues in such cities as Chicago, New Mexico, Seattle, San Francisco, Berkley, etc. He splits his time between New Orleans, New York City and Rhode Island.
