Robert Kouba was born in Zurich, Switzerland. He discovered the art of filmmaking during his early childhood, especially through his grandfather who played an essential part for Robert and his obsession for the craft of storytelling. At the age of 12 one of Kouba's short films was in the official selection of the Festival Ciné Jeunesse Suisse, the most prestigious and largest Swiss Film Festival aimed at young filmmakers. At the age of 20 Kouba directed his first feature film starring John Cusack. This was followed by many other flourishing pieces of art such as CAER (2016) starring Jamie Campbell Bower.
