Jim Demonakos has been active in the pop culture industry for over two decades. He is the founder of Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, and he spent 15 years developing it into the premier event of the comic convention season. For the event, he also created and edited a yearly art book for the event, called Monsters & Dames, which raises money for Seattle Children's Hospital. After exiting Emerald City, he worked on events around the world including New York Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration, Comic Con Paris, ComplexCon, BookCon, PAX and more. In 2019, he founded LightBox Expo in Pasadena, CA, which quickly became a must-attend event among animation, illustration and concept art creators and fans. He is the writer of the New York Times Best Selling graphic novel, The Silence of Our Friends, co-written alongside Mark Long and illustrated by National Book Award winner Nate Powell. Alongside Kyle Stevens, he also founded and was a songwriter for the pioneering nerd rock band Kirby Krackle. "Mike Mignola: Drawing Monsters," a documentary about comic book creator Mike Mignola, is his first feature film as a director.
